A former Managing Director of Intercontinental Bank Plc, Dr. Erastus Akingbola, has been asked to answer the fraud charges preferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
The situation became compelling when the Judge presiding over the matter, on Monday, refused to grant Akingbola’s request to have the charges quashed.
Justice Adeniyi Onigbanjo of a Lagos High Court, sitting in Ikeja, disagreed with the banker that the prosecution had not established that he had a case to answer.
“There is no doubt that there is a prima facie case against the applicant, he said.
“The counts against him are unambiguous in accusing him of misappropriation of funds at Intercontinental Bank.”
Akingbola and his co-accused, Bayo Dada, will stand trial as from July 10 to 15 and 18.
