Woman nabbed over N7.1 million theft

A 33 year-old Angela Olisakwe alias Angela Okeke, has been arrested and arraigned by Force Criminal Investigation Department, Force Headquarters Annex, Alagbon, Lagos State for allegedly escaping with N7.1 million belonging to Police Cooperative Society store at Okota, Isolo area of Lagos,

According to the police prosecution in charge No. E/13/12, the accused sometime in 2010 in Lagos did with intent to defraud, forge a cash receipt with a value of N7.182, 400, belonging to Nigeria Police Cooperative Society Ltd. to offset her lawful debt.

The offences, DSP Odion Akhaine, the police prosecutor noted are contrary to Section 283 and punishable under Section 285 and 361 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

Olisakwe, a former police officer pleaded not guilty to the charges and the presiding Chief Magistrate Mrs. M. O. A. Ogunsanya granted her bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties who must show proof of tax payment to the Lagos State government with six months bank statement.
