The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has said that it was never involved in the prosecution of Senate President, Bukola Saraki.
The Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, led by Danladi Umar, during the week quashed the case filed by the Federal Government against Saraki, saying he has no case to answer.
But in a series of tweets on its Twitter handle @officialEFCC, on Friday, the EFCC made it clear to Nigerians that it was not the prosecutor at the Code of Conduct Tribunal trial.
The anti-graft agency also said Rotimi Jacobs, SAN, was never its lawyer, saying that he is an independent anti-corruption lawyer to the state and could be counsel to any organisation.
Recall that during the long trial of the Senate President, Rotimi Jacobs was always seen as lawyer to the EFCC, but the commission has claimed that he was not working for them.
The commission wrote, “For our friends that do not know, the #EFCC was NOT prosecuting the Senate President.
“The learned silk is an independent lawyer for the state. He could also be counsel to ICPC, NIA or DSS.”
