Vigilante kills suspected ritualist trying to break into Sisters’ convent

Vigilante operatives detailed to the Immaculate Heart Convent, Nkpor, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State have reportedly shot dead a suspected ritualist, who was struggling to enter reverend sisters’ convent on coronation day.

The incident happened, when the alleged ritualist was caught at the gate of the convent with substances wrapped in a polythene bag, which included charms, leaves, padlocks, fresh meat and a coffin.

DailyPost learnt that the victim, who insisted on gaining entrance into the premises of the convent, was prevented by the operatives of the vigilante group, who were suspicious of his moves and immediately tried to arrest him.

The suspect, upon realizing that his mission has hit the brick wall tried to escape arrest as he took to his heels.

But, he was eventually brought down by a bullet fired by a member of the vigilante group.

On hearing the sound of the gunshot, guests and family members who came to felicitate with the reverend sisters at the occasion scampered for safety.

When members of the vigilante found the victim dead in his own pool of blood, they searched the polythene bag he was carrying, and saw the content.

The Divisional Police Officer in charge of Ogidi Police Station, Isah Abubakar confirmed the incident, and pointed out that the matter had been transferred to police headquarters in Awka for further investigation.
