Two men arraigned for stealing frozen food worth over N4m

Two men have being arraigned before an Ebute Meta Magistrate Court sitting in Lagos by the police for allegedly stealing from their employer frozen food worth over four million naira.

The two arraigned are, Amaliri Eze, 35, and Usman Suleiman, 31 who were employed by the plaintiff, Mrs. Fyne Ogechi, who had a stall in the market.

It was learnt that both men, between December last year and February this year defrauded their boss to the tune of over four million naira.

Both men were apprehended and arraigned on two counts charge bordering on stealing.

The charge states, “That you, Amaliri Eze,Usman Suleiman, and others at large, between the month of December 2014 and February 2015, from 7am to 6pm at Ijora Fish Market, Ijora Olopa, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did steal assorted frozen food worth N4,774,900, property of one Fyne Ojechi”.

The offence is said to be punishable under sections 409 and 285(7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused in their defence pleaded not guilty to the charge, leading to their defence counsel applying for bail in liberal terms.

Mr. O.O. Olatunji, the magistrate, granted the accused bail with the sum of five hundred thousand naira each with two sureties in like sum. The Magistrate adjourned the case till March 12, 2015.
