Two in court for stealing 16 cows

The Police in Ado kiti on Tuesday dragged two men, Ibrahim Mohammad, 30 and Usman Haruna, 26 before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrate court over alleged stealing of cow.

DAILY POST reports that the police prosecutor, Sgt. Caleb Leranmo told the court that the accused committed the offence on June 3 at about 2 am at Ilafo-Ekiti in Oye Local government area of Ekiti State.

He alleged that the accused, on the said date, unlawfully stole sixteen cows, which was valued at N1m, property of one Yusuf Abdullahi.

According to him, the offence contravened Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code,Cap C16, Laws of Ekiti State. 2012.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the offence.

Their counsel, Mr Timilehin Omotosho prayed the court to grant bail to the accused in liberal terms, with a promise that they would not jump bail.

Chief Magistrate, Aderopo Adegboye consequently granted bail to the accused in the sum of N200,000 and two sureties in like sum.

He adjourned the case to June 6, 2016 for further hearing.
