Two cart pushers docked for allegedly stealing generators

Two cart pushers — Ali Abubakar and Sule Adamu — on Thursday appeared before an Ojo Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, on charges of burglary and theft of three generators.

Abubakar, 20, and Adamu, 21 — residents of Alaba Rago area of Ojo on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway — are standing trial on a three-count charge of conspiracy, burglary and stealing.

The prosecutor, ASP Godwin Eze, told the court that the accused committed the offences on Aug. 31 at Ojo at 4.20 a.m.

He said the accused broke into a shop located at No. 22, PPL Road, Ojo, and stole the generators valued at N43, 000, property of one Mr Adebolu Famadewu.

He said the offences contravened Sections 285, 305 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

Section 305 provides seven years imprisonment for offenders.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Magistrate, Mrs Adenike Shonubi, granted the two men bail in the sum of N40, 000 each with two sureties each in like sum.

The case was adjourned to Oct. 14 for trial. (NAN)
