Two business associates, Johnson Adedapo and Ayina Emopke, were on Monday charged before an Ejigbo Senior Magistrates’ Court in Lagos over alleged human trafficking.
The accused persons, who reside at Oshodi and Obadore areas of Lagos, respectively, were arraigned under a three-count charge of conspiracy, obtaining money under false pretences and human trafficking.
The Prosecutor, Femi Adeleye, told the court, presided over by Mr P.E. Nwaka that the accused committed the offences sometime in March at 10.00 a.m aound Obadore, a suburb of Lagos.
According to him, they allegedly conspired and obtained N100, 000 from one Mr Akinnuwa Akintade and Miss Alamuoye Temitayo, under the pretext of securing jobs for them in Libya.
He continued that the accused took Akintade, a woman, Bukola Oyekunle, and two others to Libya, who were still being held in that country.
He said the offences contravened Sections 274, 312 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The duo of Adedapo and Emopke pleaded not guilty to the charges.
