Tokyo denies alleged threat to security in Oyo

The embattled Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers in Oyo State, Alhaji Abdullateef Oloruntoki (a.k.a. Tokyo), has distanced himself and his faction from the alleged threat to peace and security in the state.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Moses Onireti, in a statement last week, said the command was still on the trail of the two factional leaders – Mukaila Lamidi, (a.k.a. Auxiliary) and Tokyo.

Reacting to the allegations, Tokyo, in statement on Thursday, said he would join forces with the Police in fighting crime and criminals in the state.

He, however, urged the commissioner “not to be drawn into dirty partisan politics in the state but rather, maintain neutrality in the process of discharging his duties.”

The statement reads, further, “Onireti is known to be a good Christian and God-fearing officer. He should pursue criminals in the state headlong and desist from side attractions. He should stop linking my good name with negative activities in the state.

“For clarity, the CP should be well informed that I am totally innocent of all the malicious allegations against me by his immediate predecessor and should, therefore, stop re-echoing such ill-motivated innuendoes against my person.”
