Knowing that nemesis has caught up with him, a suspect, Tajudeen Oluwanishola, in a bid to avert arrest knocked down an operative of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Jonathan Barde, at the weekend.

Oluwanishola, who is being investigated over alleged internet banking fraud to the tune of N5, 500,000, hit the operative with his Honda Accord car when he sighted the team advancing towards him.

The EFCC operative sustained serious injury and is now receiving medical treatment at the Military Hospital, Ikoyi, Lagos.

A statement by the EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwajaren, confirmed that not only was Barde injured, a Toyota Hilux van that took the EFCC team to the Gbagada Estate neighbourhood where the suspect reside, was badly damaged as the suspect rammed his car into the vehicle in his desperate bid to escape arrest.

However, Oluwanishola’s escape bid was foiled by a Rapid Response Patrol team which apprehended him and handed him over to the EFCC.
