Soon-to-be bride remanded in prison one week to wedding

A 33-year-old woman identified as Olawunmi, has been arraigned before an Isolo Magistrates’ Court, Lagos State, one week to her wedding for allegedly slapping her neighbour, one Anthony.

PM news reports that Olawunmi was arrested and remanded in prison custody for the alleged offence.

After the incident occurred, Anthony went to Ijesh-Atedo Police Division and reported Olawunmi’s actions. She was subsequently arrested and taken to the station.

It is reportedly uncertain why the accused slapped Anthony. However, she was urged to apologize but she refused, hence, she was charged with assault.

During the arraignment, she pleaded not guilty.

In her ruling, the presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A.O. Adedayo, ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody pending settlement of her bail.

She was reportedly granted bail for N20, 000 with one surety in like sum.

Olawunmi, reports say, wept when she heard the verdict, as her wedding was just a week away.

The case was however, adjourned till 16 October for mention.
