Six persons allegedly belonging to a secret cult were on Tuesdays remanded in prison by a Chief Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ilorin, Kwara State.
The accused are Tope, Kunle, Gbenga Alade, Philip Olawale, Segun and Kunle.
It was learnt that the suspects had on February 17, 2014, were apprehended by the Kwara State Anti-Robbery Squad at their hideout along Alagbede Offa garage in Illorin when they were about to carry out criminal activities while wielding dangerous guns.
The Anti-Robbery Squad recovered twol single barrel guns, eight drilling machines, weeds and a jack-knife when the hoodlum’s hideout was raided.
According to the prosecutor, investigation carried out by police showed that the suspects were members of a secret cult.
The suspects who were arraigned for charges bordering on criminal conspiracy, membership of secret society and possession of firearms which contravened Sections 97, 11 and 306 of the Penal Code, pleaded not guilty.
They were consequently ordered to be remanded at the Federal Prison in Ilorin by Magistrate M. F. Adebola who also adjourned the case till March 24.
