Shari’a Court remands unemployed man for house breaking, theft

A Shari’a Court presided over by Malam Abubakar Ayagi in Kano, on Wednesday remanded a 21-year-old unemployed man, Salisu Hashimu, in prison custody for house breaking and theft.

The accused was arraigned on a two count charge which contravened sections 346 and 287 of the Penal Code.

According to the prosecutor, Cpl Ahmed Magawata while testifying before a Shari court at Sabon Gari area of the State, one Mahmud Ado of Tarauni quarters, on June 25 reported the matter to Farm Centre Police Division, Kano.

The prosecutor told the court that Hashimu broke into the complainant’s house and made away with five different types of cell phones and jewelries worth N10, 000.

Hashimu pleaded guilty when the charges were read.

The presiding judge, Malam Abubakar Ayagi, consequently ordered that Hashimu be remanded in prison custody while adjourning the case till July 3, for further hearing.
