Seven arrested in Ondo over adulterated diesel

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Ondo State Command, has arrested seven suspects in possession of 6,900 litres of adulterated diesel.

The suspects are: Moruf Olapade, Lawrence Olagunju, Nwanbueze Obinor, Austine Akwarandu, Joshua Orire, Akinbinmi Ayodele and Williams Wale.

Olapade, Olagunju, Obinor and Akwarandu were arrested at Ominla, along Okitipupa road, Ore at 11:30 pm on 25th September in a Volvo Truck with registration number LSD 484 XA Lagos, containing 6000 litres of suspected adulterated Automobile Gasoline Oil (AGO).

But Orire, Ayodele and Williams were arrested at Irele, around 8 pm on September 19, in an Honda accord car with Registration Number RH 235 KJA Lagos, containing 25 kegs of 30 litres each and three 50 litre kegs filled with suspected adulterated diesel which amount to 900 litres.

While parading the suspects at the NSCDC State Command Headquarters at Alagbaka Akure, the state Command of the Corps, Commandant Andrew Ugwumba said the suspects were caught dealing on illegal petroleum product and it was one of the Corps mandated to monitor adulteration and vandalization of pipeline in Nigeria

He said the suspects were dealing on adulterated petroleum product.

The Commandant warned the people dealing on the adulterated petroleum product in the state to desist from the act as his administration would do everything possible to rid Ondo state of oil bunkering and other criminal activities.

He said the suspects would be charged to court for illegal dealing and possession of adulterated petroleum products as soon as the result of the sample of the product taken for laboratory analysis is out.
