Enugu State police command says its operatives have arrested three robbery suspects, and had recovered stolen foreign currencies in the process.
In a press statement made available to DailyPost, the police spokesman in the state, Ebere Amaraizu, DSP, disclosed that the arrest of one James Onu who claimed he hailed from Afikpo in Ebonyi State led to the arrest of other members of the gang.
Onu was arrested following a distress call received that hoodlums were operating at a certain residence in Industrial Layout in Emene, Enugu.
Following his arrest, the other two suspects, Ifeanyi Edeh of Artisan Market, Enugu and Maduabuchi Igwe also of Artisan Market were arrested at different locations in Enugu.
“The items recovered from the suspects are one blue iron cutter, some amount of U.S dollars and Zambian currency as well as handset which James Onu revealed that they stole from their victims in Ebonyi state having burgled into their premises with their iron cutter.
“Meanwhile, investigations into the incident are in full scale as suspects are helping the police in their investigations”, the statement added.
Reacting to the arrest, the state commissioner of police, Abubakar Adamu Mohammed applauded the effort of his men who attended to the distress call promptly, urging them to sustain the tempo.
