Men of the underworld on Thursday in Ado Ekiti killed one person and went away with an undisclosed amount of money when they attacked an Automated Teller Machine, ATM, belonging to one of the first generation banks in the state.
The affected bank is situated in Ajilosun area of the state capital and it was learnt that the robbers struck at about 2am.
According to eyewitnesses, the robbers shot one of the security men on the chest while trying to disarm the security network within the bank premises.
Report says the bank premises had heavy presence of policemen after the incident.
Doors to the bank were seen to be locked as customers were left stranded within the bank premises.
Bank officials directed all questions to their headquarters in Lagos as they refused to talk to the press.
While speaking to the press, some customers called on the government to look into the incessant attacks by men of the underworld on banks across the state.
Mr Taiwo Lakanu, the Police Commissioner in the state, confirmed the incident but stated that the Police has no record of death, adding that one of the hoodlums has been apprehended and currently assisting in the investigation that will lead to the arrest of other members of the group.
