The Rivers State Police Command Saturday night announced that Mrs. Lilian Davies has been freed from kidnappers.
She was freed on Friday at about 3:30 pm by special tactical outfit set up by the Commissioner of Police to tackle the menace of kidnappings.
The victim is the Registrar of Ken Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic, Bori, who was kidnapped on November 17 while on transit along Bori-Yaghe road.
DSP, Ahmad Muhammad, Police Public Relations Officer, disclosed that Mrs Davies was rescued at the bush around Kaani in Khana Local Government.
“The rescue team during the operation had a fierce gun duel with the kidnappers resulting to the death of four kidnappers.
“One AK47 rifle, one locally made pistol, one magazine, 25 rounds of 7.62 live ammunition and five cartridges were recovered at the scene after the operation,” the statement said,
It advised criminal elements in to relocate from Rivers State, saying that the police were determined more than before to take the onslaughts to their hideouts.
