Retired Senior Magistrate’s killer to die by hanging

An Ogun State High Court sitting at Isabo, Abeokuta on Wednesday sentenced a 26-year-old David Uche Idah, to death for killing a retired senior magistrate, Mrs Olufunmilayo Timeyin.

Justice Abiodun Akinyemi ordered that the Benue-born Uche, be killed by hanging.

The convict was represented by Mr. Felix Dalley.

On March 28,2014, the late magistrate, 65, was murdered in her residence in Laderin Estate in Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of the state.

Uche, then 25-year-old, was accused of jumping over the fence to gain access to the late Timeyin’s bungalow.

He deactivated the security system and then hacked the retired magistrate to death.

Uche had been employed in January 2014 and sent packing two weeks later for allegedly stealing his boss’ valuables, including phones and jewelleries.

Uche’s late boss, it was gathered ordered his release from detention.
