A quack nurse from Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo local government area of Ondo State (Name withheld) has been arrested by men of the State Police Command over the death of a nursing mother, simply identified as Ayo.
Sources informed DAILY POST that the deceased had approached the suspect for delivery of her baby not knowing that she has no professional qualification to handle such medical job.
It was learnt that the suspect was an auxiliary nurse at Miracle Centre Medical Clinic at Bamikemo village in Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo local council.
One of the neighbours of the deceased said “Ayo delivered a set of twins successfully but later developed complication and she was rushed to the clinic where the suspect works before she kicked the bucket.
“Before Ayo was rushed to the clinic, the suspect made frantic effort to save her life but the issue was beyond her.”
It was, however, gathered that the family of the deceased was not satisfied with incident and later made a report at the police station.
The corpse of the deceased was said to have been deposited at the State General Hospital, Ile Oluji.
When contacted on the telephone, the Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, Mr Femi Joseph confirmed the incident, saying the deceased died as a result of complication that arose after she had been delivered of her babies.
“When the woman was about putting to bed, the nurse offered to take the delivery, knowing that she does not have the professional qualification to do that and in the process, complication arose which led to the death of that woman. That is why we arrested the nurse, ” the PPRO disclosed.
He noted that the case was been handled by the State Criminal Investigative Department of the state police command while further investigation had commenced on the matter.
