Delta State Police Command has arrested a policewoman identified as Sergeant Helen for allegedly killing her ex-husband Kelechi Aririguzo.

The late Aririguzo was also a policeman.

It was gathered that Kelechi was killed when he visited Helen’s residence at Umuokwe village to see his daughter. However, Helen was said to have raised alarm that Kelechi was a thief who had come to kidnap her daughter.

An eyewitness said the alarm attracted the attention of youths in the neighborhood who gathered and attacked Kelechi, killing him in the process.

Kelechi was said to have been. married to Helen, but they later separated due to unresolved domestic differences.

Following the incident, almost all the houses within the vicinity have been deserted for fear of arrest by the police.

“I feel that his decision to visit his daughter infuriated her. Kelechi has lived in this neighborhood over the years before he was transferred outside the state. He just came into town a day ago and decided to see his daughter who is living with Helen after their separation,’ Gift said.

Delta Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Celestina Kalu, who confirmed the arrest of the policewoman, said that the suspect was being held in custody along with her accomplices in the killing of a policeman last week in Ogwashi-Uku, Aniocha South Local Government Area.
