Police raid baby factory in Enugu, rescues girls, babies

Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command have rescued five pregnant girls and nine babies, under the age of one from a maternity home, identified as Daughters of Divine Home Pro-live, located along Aria Road by Cemetery axis of Enugu metropolis.

The police team from the Central Police Station in the State stormed the home and rescued the girls following a tip off on August 21.

A police source disclosed that those rescued were helping the operatives of the Anti-Child Trafficking Unit of the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigations Department, CIID, in the furtherance of its investigations.

The alleged owner of the home, a Reverend Sister, however, maintained that she had the approval of government to run the home.

It was discovered that one of the babies recovered during the raid was said to be the child of a second year student in a university, who alleged that she gave birth at the home for safe keeping.
