Police parade 12 suspects for various criminal offences in Akwa Ibom

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has paraded twelve suspected criminal arrested for various offences of kidnapping, armed robbery, theft, rape and cultism in different parts of the state.

While parading the suspects on Tuesday in Uyo, the state capital, the state Commissioner of Police, Murtala Mani warned that any criminal caught will face the full weight of the law.

Mani, who was represented by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, in the state, Cordelia Nwawe, revealed that two young-men who specialize in removing of solar energy batteries on the streets of the state have been arrested.

He also disclosed that a man, who borrowed his friend car and later sold it in Benue State, has been arrested with the buyer.

The state CP further explained that another young man, identified as Ibanga Solomon from Ini area of the state, alleged to have threatened to kidnap the state Commissioner for Women Affairs, Dr Glory Edet, has been arrested.

He said one of the kidnap suspects was traced to Rivers State and arrested at the point of going to withdraw money paid to his account as ransom.

He said, “There is no room for people who carry illegal arms to commit any form of criminality.

“The anti-kidnapping section, Special Anti-robbery squad (SARS) has all been well briefed on the task of riding the state of crime.”

The CP however, called on members of the public to provide the police with useful information on the movement and hideout of criminals around the state, adding that the identity of such informants would always be protected and information treated with confidence.
