The Enugu State Police Command has arrested an alleged fake staff of the National Agency for Food, Drugs Administration and Control, NAFDAC.
The suspect, identified as one Prince Gabriel Obasi of Odume, Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu State has allegedly been impersonating and extortion unsuspecting members of the public.
According to a victim at Awgu in Enugu State, “the suspect came to my shop at Orie Awgu Market where he presented himself as an official of NAFDAC and demanded for the license authorizing me to be selling local gin popularly known as Kai Kai as well as the sum of N10, 000”.
Suspecting foul play, the victim said he reported the matter to the police.
DailyPost learnt that when the suspect was rounded up by the police, he revealed that he was not a NAFDAC official and pleaded for forgiveness.
In another development, operatives of the mobile force No 3 squadron of the Enugu State Police command have nabbed two persons along Enugu Port Harcourt Expressway for allegedly being in possession of two short double barrel guns.
The guns, concealed in Bagco Sack inside a commercial bus, were discovered by the police during their routine stop and search.
DailyPost gathered that the suspects, who gave their names as Ernest Onyeka Nwodo and Ugochukwu Ifeanyi joined the bus with registration number BH 948 ENU from a loading bay at Gariki Awkunanaw en-route Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Enugu State, Ebere Amaraizu, DSP, who confirmed both incidents said the two double barrel guns were traced to the two suspects on closer interrogations.
“Investigations have commenced in full scale as suspects are helping the operatives in their investigations”, he stated.
