Police nab undergraduate for possession of firearm in Delta

The Police authorities in Delta State have arrested an undergraduate student of the Delta State University, Abraka, for illegal possession of firearm in Abbi community, Ndokwa West local government area.

Police spokesperson, DSP Celestina Kalu said in a statement Thursday in Asaba that the suspect was nabbed following a tip off after he allegedly hid the firearms under a tricycle on a ride with his friends.

“On January 27, 2016 at about 3.20pm, detectives attached to Kwale Division in conjunction with vigilantes while acting on a tip off arrested one Ode Victor, male, a 5th year Business Administration student of DELSU Abraka.

“The suspect, who is resident at Solid Rock Hostel Abbi, was found with a locally made single barrel gun cut to size concealed under a tricycle,” Kalu said.

The police spokesperson said that two other accomplices of the suspect who were also students of the same institution, however, managed to escape arrest.

She further stated that the suspect had been taken into custody, while investigation into the matter had commenced.
