Police nab three pickpockets as they share loot in Lagos

The Police in Lagos have arrested three suspected pickpockets at a spot where they were trying to share their loot. The command’s spokesman, DSP Joseph Offor, who disclosed the arrest in a statement on Monday in Lagos, said the suspects specialised in stealing money and phones in public transport.

The statement gave their names as Ebuka Ekujere , 28; Monsuru Onanuga, 32, and Segun Alao, 30, noting that they were arrested on Friday at about 1.20 p.m.

“The trio were arrested by the operatives of Rapid Response Squad, of Lagos State Police Command at Eko Hotel area in Lagos Island.

“They snatched a mobile phone from a motorist using tricycle. The suspects were apprehended when they were discussing about how to share their day’s loot.

“Ebuka had successfully stole the handset from a motorist and had initially settled his accomplices with N3,000 for keeping shut on sighting him while removing the phone,’’ it said.

The statement quoted the Offor as saying that they would soon be charged to court. (NAN)
