Police nab teenager over motorcycle theft in Delta


The Police authorities in Delta State have arrested a teenager, Jerry Benjamin for allegedly stealing a motorcycle belonging to one Adamu Isah in Okpanam community, near the state capital.

Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Celestina Kalu said in statement Wednesday in Asaba that the suspect was apprehended after the victim lodged a report at the Okpanam police station that his motorcycle had been stolen.

She said, “On September 14, 2015, at about 5.09 pm, one Adamu Isah of Noble Academy road Okpanam, reported at the Police station in Okpanam that his motorcycle, a KC Sanya with Reg. No. NNE 555 QA has been stolen from where it was parked.

“So, based on the information received, the DCO II and other detectives went into action and arrested a suspect one Jerry Benjamin, aged 23 years old.”

The police spokesperson said that upon interrogation, the suspect made confessional statement, which was recorded at the police station.

She also disclosed that the police had since recovered the stolen motorcycle, adding that the suspect would be arraigned in court upon the completion of investigation.
