The Police authorities in Delta state have arrested a suspected cultist, Junior Benson over the death of a teenager following a cult clash last Wednesday in Effurun, near Warri.

Police spokesperson, DSP Celestina Kalu, said in a statement Tuesday in Asaba that the suspect was apprehended by the police after the victim died from the wounds he sustained following a stab on his neck.

He said, “On December 30, 2015, one Ejvo Atabure, male, of No. 4 Ovie Palace road Effurun reported at the charge room Ebrumede Division that his younger brother one Atabure Agbogho was stabbed on his neck.

“He said the victim was stabbed by one Junior Benson, male, during a fight along Ovie Palace road Effurun on the same date at about 12 noon.”

Kalu said the victim was rushed to Ekpan general hospital for treatment but he later passed away, adding that police enquiries revealed that the fight was between two rival cult groups in the area.

She said the suspect was subsequently arrested and victim’s corpse deposited at Ekpan general Hospital mortuary for autopsy, adding that the police had commenced investigation into the incident.
