Police gun down robbery suspect in Delta, recover weapons

The Police in Delta State has shot dead a robbery suspect during a shootout with a gang of armed robbers along Umutu-Obiaruku road.

Police spokesperson in the state, DSP Celestina Kalu said in a statement on Friday in Asaba that the suspect met his waterloo after his gang attacked a victim in his home.

“On August 27, 2015, a Police Dragon Team 06 while on patrol along Umutu/Obiaruku road received distress call from one Mr. Imola Augustine.

“The victim, who resides along the police station road in the community, told the police that armed robbers invaded his residence”.

Kalu said that sequel to the information, the patrol men moved to the scene where the hoodlums on sighting the police team, engaged them in a shootout.

She said: “Following the shootout, one of the armed robbers was gunned down in the process, while others managed to escape.”

The police image maker further disclosed that the police recovered one cut-to-size locally made gun the live cartridges from the deceased robber.

She also listed five mobile handsets of various makes, a wrist watch and N750.00 cash as other items recovered from the scene. .
