The Anti-Robbery Squad of the Nigeria Police Force, “A” Division in Warri South Local Government Area, Monday, gunned down four suspected armed robbers after serious exchange of gunfire.
They were shot around the popular Ekpen, near Okere market roundabout at about 3pm in Warri.
One of the suspected armed robbers is one Ovie, who many say is known for kidnapping, rape and armed robbery in Warri.
DAILY POST gathered that the suspected armed robbers, who had carried out robbery operations in various streets around Warri metropolis trailed an unidentified man, with a dark blue Passat Car, with Registration number FKJ 385 CV (Lagos)after he withdrew about one hundred and twenty six thousand naira from a commercial bank.
Our Correspondent reports that the police acted on a distress call put across to the Area Commander in Warri, ACP Muhammed Mu’Azu, who later detailed the Outgoing Divisional Police Officer of “A” Dvision, ACP Ukoh Nkereuwem.
It was also gathered that the suspected armed robbers opened fire and engaged the police in one hour exchange of gunfire as they tried to escape from the area.
It was further gathered that the police gave them a hot chase and intercepted and them.
Items recovered from them included two locally made cut to size guns, catridges, two expended bullets and cash amounting to twenty six thousand naira.
The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Celestina Kalu confirmed the report without giving details.
