Police cracks down car robbery syndicate, recovers over 20 vehicles in Borno

The Borno state Police Command has arrested a syndicate who specializes in car snatching in the state. The police also recovered over 20 stolen vehicles, 1 tricycle and two motorcycles.

The command in a press statement signed by its Police Public Relation Officer,PPRO, DSP Gideon Jibrin and made available to DailyPost said that “ in response to this menace, the Borno state Police command has taken the battle to the door steps of these notorious syndicates, several of whom haven been snatching cars in the last one moths.”

The statement affirmed that most of the vehicles were snatched at gun point from their owners or stolen while parked at home. He stressing that the arrested syndicates are now being interrogated and will soon charged to court accordingly.

DSP Jibrin said the command wishes to sensitize the general public on the emerging car snatching cases within the state, where car owners are now deprived of their vehicles by some hoodlums, calling on them to give useful information that may led to arrest of more syndicates.

Cars recovered include, 2 Toyota Hilux, 2 Toyota Land cruiser, 1 Toyota Carina, 1Toyota Isuzu, 1 Toyota Carina II, 1 Toyota Tarcel and a Starlet , 4 Volkswagen Golf, 1 Peugeot Station Wagon and 1 Volkswagen Golf III.

Others are 1 Honda Civic, 1 Honda Academy, 1 Honda Accord car 1 Mercedes Benz, 1 Green color Rover, 1 Keke NAPEP, and 1 Kasea motorcycle.

The statement also called on owners of the stolen vehicles to come to the SARS office with genuine documents to claim their vehicles and also called on the general public to invest in their vehicles by installing car tracking device or installing other security gadgets like pedal and steering lock to avoid been stolen.

The police also advised the general public to be conscious of where and how they park their vehicles, appealing to all law abiding citizens to support the police in its efforts to rid the state from crime and criminality.
