Police charges ​four men for alleged theft of 100 litres of diesel

An Igbosere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Tuesday admitted four men to bail in the sum of N500,000 each for allegedly stealing 100 litres of diesel worth N140, 000.

The defendants, David Osaekete, 28; Chukwu Maxwell, 30; Patrick Agada, 46; and Inusa Momodu, 23 were arraigned on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

The Magistrate, Mr B. A. Sonuga, ordered the defendants to produce one reliable surety each in like sum.

He said that the sureties must show evidence of three years tax payment to Lagos State ‎Government, and adjourned the case till April 27 for mention.

The Prosecutor, Cpl. Kingsley Jackson, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on April 4 at 7:30 p.m. at Eko Atlantic site, Bar Beach, Victoria Island Lagos.

Jackson said the stolen 100 litres of diesel was the property of South Energy Nigeria Ltd., Lagos.

He said the offences contravened Sections 285 (7) and 409 and of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge. (NAN)
