The Kogi State Police command has arrested a 30-year-old man, Adamu Ibrahim in connection with the hijack of a trailer load of cement belonging to Obajana cement company, a subsidiary of Dangote group.
Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Samuel Ogunjemilusi disclosed this to journalists while parading scores of suspects at the state command Headquarters in Lokoja on Friday.
According to the Commissioner, two other suspects were still at large.
He assured that the police will not relent in ensuring that they were apprehended.
He explained that the state Police Command was very much alert and combat ready to deal with criminals.
Among those paraded were a middle aged Fulani man, Iliyasu alleged to be the leader of the gang that had been terrorising Bassa local government axis.
Iliyasu is also alleged to be involved in the gruesome murder of late Engineer Lolo Alhassan from Bassa local government.
Also from Kabba axis, another Fulani man was arrested with assorted weapons and is suspected to be one of those terrorising the area.
Some youths from Ibaji local government area, said to have kidnapped two mobile police men on anti-riot operation in the troubled area, were also paraded with the sophisticated weapons that were recovered from them.
In their statements, the arrested youths numbering over 10 said they were vigilante members defending their village in view of the communal clashes in Ibaji LGA.
The Commissioner said that as part of the command’s readiness in fighting criminals, 350 Police officers and men have been deployed from Abuja, while 15 patrol vehicles were already on ground.
