Police arrest man over rape, robbery in Ondo

The Ondo State Police Command have arrested Anti-robbery detectives attached to the Igbara-Oke police station in the Ifedore local government area of the state for allegedly beating  a 75-year-old woman to a state of coma.

The suspect was nabbed last week by the police following a tip-off from members of the community

The police First Information indicates that  the suspect having robbed the victim, who lives at Nos 25 Moleke street Igabara-Oke of cash and other valuable items at gun point reportedly raped her to a state of unconsciousness.

The randy armed robber that committed the dastardly act was  said to have escaped but was later apprehended by the police detectives led by the DPO in charge of Igbara-Oke Police station after an intensive investigation.

Confirming the incident, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Adeniran Aremu, confirmed the incident.

He said that the hoodlum had since been transferred to the state anti robbery squad in Akure for in-depth investigation.

The police spokesman hinted that the bandit threatened to kill the victim with a locally made pistol if she refused to allow him to have a carnal knowledge on her.

Aremu who said the suspect would soon be charged to court for robbery and rape enjoined the members of the public to be security conscious and report suspicious and strange faces in the respective domain.
