Police arraigns man over theft of eight goats

The police in Ogun on Monday arraigned a 33-year-old man, Shakoni Adeniyi, over alleged theft of eight goats.

Adeniyi is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, theft and breach of the peace before an Ota Magistrates’ Court.

The prosecutor, Insp Peter Molokwu, told the court that the accused, a resident of No.22, Adeyemi St., Ota, conspired with another person still at large to commit the offences at 7.00p.m. on Oct. 19 at Akute in Ota.

Molokwu added that the accused was caught at a police checkpoint in Ota.

The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 390 (3) and 516 of the Criminal Code, Law of Ogun State, 2006.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.

Senior Magistrate Titi Bello granted him bail in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety in like sum.

She adjourned the case to Nov. 25 for mention. (NAN)
