A 28-year-old-man, Victor Oladapo, on Friday appeared before an Osun Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ile-Ife, Osun, over alleged theft of baby wear.
The police prosecutor, Insp Sunday Osantunyi, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Feb. 24 at No. 8,Owoeye Street, Ondo Road, Ile-Ife.
Osantunyi said that the accused stole baby wears valued over N89,000, property of one Latifat Bakare, on the pretence that she would pay for the items but thereafter defrauded the owner.
He said that the offence contravened sections 383 (1), 390 (9) and 419 (1) of the State Criminal Code.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the offence.
Counsel to the accused, Mrs Modupe Olufemi, however, pleaded for the bail of her client in most liberal terms, promising that the accused would not jump bail.
Chief Magistrate Risikat Olayemi granted the bail to the accused in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
Olayemi said that the surety should swear to affidavit of means and also produce three years tax clearance certificate as well as two recent passport photographs.
She adjourned the case to Oct. 7, for hearing. (NAN)
