Pastor charged to court for abducting another man’s wife

A certain Pastor Ododa of the Holy Family Ministry, New Karu, Nasarawa state has been charged to Court for allegedly abducting a client’s wife, Grace Okpara.

The 42-year-old Pastor who appeared before the Maraba Upper Area court on Tuesday was accused of abducting his client’s wife while Mr. Nnamdi Okpara (the client) was away on an official assignment in Delta State in 2010. The complainant who got married to his wife in 2008 claimed thus “Since we got married, we have been living peacefully until she was introduced to the prayer ministry by one of her relatives and she started misbehaving.”

He further claimed that the Pastor told his wife that there was no spiritual guidance in their marriage, because she was married to a wrong man. “And then he asked her to pack out of the house to avoid ungodly acts that could lead her to regret thereafter”

Mr Okpara added that the pastor would always invite Grace while each time he is away and sometimes made calls to her asking her to meet him.

“When I came back from Delta, I went to the Hakimi (district head) of New Karu, the Director of Social Welfare Board of Karu Local Government and the CAN chairman, to assist me get my wife back but all my efforts proved abortive because my wife has not returned to me yet, so I decided to bring the matter to court.” When the charge was read, the pastor pleaded not guilty. The judge, Justice Vincent Gwahenba, granted him bail at the sum of N200,000 with a surety and adjourned the case to January 25.
