A middle aged man, Taiwo Ajayi has been arrested by men of the Ondo state Police Command over an alleged car theft in Akure, the state capital.
Ajayi was said to have stolen the car where it was parked at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) by the owner.
According to Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Wole Ogodo, the suspect, who was the driver of the owner of the car removed it where it was parked and took it to Lagos.
Ogodo explained that the owner of the Honda car with registration number- Lagos MUS 328 BZ, Dr James Okunola reported at the Okuta Elerinla that the car was stolen where it was parked at FUTA area.
The PPRO said the police swung into action and received information through the tracker that the car has been taken to Ajebamidele area of the state along Benin- Ore express way.
He however said the police were not lucky to meet the suspect at Ajebamidele but they traced him to Bode Thomas area in Lagos state where the suspect plan to dispose the car.
Speaking on his arrest, the suspect, Ajayi, who confessed to the offence said he was an employee of the owner of the car saying the act was the devil’s handiwork as he never planned to steal the car.
Ogodo however said the suspect would soon be charged to court as soon as the investigation is concluded.
