Ondo Police arrests two teenage boys for alleged kidnapping

Three persons between the ages of 13 and 15, were yesterday arrested by the police in Ondo town, headquarters of Ondo West Local Government, for an alleged attempt to kidnap an eleven year-old boy in Iparuku area.

DailyPost learnt from an impeccable source at the Enuowa Divisional Police Station in Ondo town, that the report of the incident was lodged at the station,by a resident of the community, who claimed to be the youth leader of the street, where the incident occurred.

According to the source, the self–acclaimed youth leader disclosed in his statement to the police that the alleged kidnapping attempt, occurred at about 11 am at Iparuku Street where he domiciled.

Speaking at the Enuowa police station, Mrs. Moronike Akinbinu, who claimed to be the grandmother of the victim, whose name was given as Precious Kehinde, said she was in her house at Iparuku street, when somebody called and informed her that her child was being seized by two young boys, who were making spirited effort at taking him away.

She added that upon the receipt of the information, she rushed to the scene where she allegedly saw the two boys dragging the said Precious and making frantic effort at taking him away forcefully.

Mrs. Akinbinu, it was further learnt said she raised the alarm which attracted other inhabitants of the street who came to her rescue, after which, the suspected kidnappers were arrested and taken to the police station.

It was gathered that upon the receipt of the complaint, the police at Enuowa Divisional Station immediately swung into action, leading to the arrest another suspect who was linked to other crimes.

It was further gathered that as at the time of the arrest of the third suspects, he was found in possession of an unmarked Jincheng brand motorcycle.

When our correspondent visited the police station to see the Divisional Police Officer ( DPO) in charge, Mr Ebenezer Adegalu, a Superintendent of Police ( SP), he was not available as he was said to have gone on surveillance activities. However, a reliable police officer at the station who would not want his name mentioned confirmed the report and stated that investigation had commenced on the matter.

He however stated that the information concerning the incident would be forwarded to the appropriate section at the Ondo State Police Command headquarters in Akure, the capital of Ondo state while effort would be made to unravel the circumstance behind the incident.
