NSCDC smashes syndicate involved in faking vehicle plate numbers

The Nigeria Security Civil Defense Corps(NSCDC), Enugu State command has smashed a notorious syndicate specializing in faking vehicle plate numbers in Enugu and its environs.

The Enugu Commandant of NSCDC, Mr Nathaniel Ubong who paraded the suspect before journalists said the corps has a mandate to protect government infrastructure and fight the activities of vandals in the country.

“Our intelligence unit has been on the trail of vehicle plate number counterfeiters for quite some time. A prime suspect in this syndicate, one Micheal Ani has been apprehended and will be prosecuted once we have concluded our investigation”, he said.

He revealed that the suspect manufactures the fake vehicle plate numbers at Nnewi and distributes same in Enugu to unsuspecting victims of his nefarious activities.

The Public Relations Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC) Enugu sector command, Mr Mark Ajuka, who corroborated the report explained that the fabrication work in the fake vehicle plates were rough even as he revealed that the paint on the plate were faint, an indication that it is sub-standard.

In a related development, the NSCDC equally paraded 9 middle aged suspects who were arrested by the operation’s unit for vandalizing cast-iron slabs placed on gutter to assist pedestrians and motorists to have smooth passage while on transit. He said the command was working tirelessly to ensure the protection of government facilities.
