NSCDC arrests three persons with 10,000 litres of adulterated diesel

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC), Ondo State Command has arrested three persons in connection with 10,000 litres of adulterated diesel at Owena village, along Ilesha-Akure road.

The suspects who were arrested in a DAF Truck with registration number, OYO XB 401 AKN were identified as Jimoh Salami, driver of the truck, Anifowose Saheed and Ojuolape Afeez, motor boys.

Parading the suspects at Alagbaka, Akure, headquarters of the Command, at the weekend, the State Commandant of the Corps, Alhaji Bamidele Popoola explained that men of the Command, while on patrol discovered that the waybill covering the transportation of the product was fake.

According to him, the sample of the product that was taken for laboratory analysis in Lagos failed analysis test and consequently showed that the product was adulterated.

Popoola also disclosed that the Command also impounded a Nissan Primera car with registration number, DC 704 JJJ conveying 44 kegs of adulterated diesel and another red wagon Golf car without number plate loaded with 18 kegs of adulterated diesel.

The cars , the Commandant said were impounded at Ore in Odigbo local government and Okitipupa areas of the state respectively, while the suspects of both cars were at large.

While warning the people who deal on adulterated petroleum products to desist from such criminal act, Popoola noted that such act was unpatriotic and had adverse effect on the nation’s economy, stressing that the Corps was protecting unsuspecting civil populace against the criminal act.

The Commandant then promised to charge the three suspects to court for immediate prosecution.
