The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Osun State Command has apprehended a herbalist, Babatunde Awofadeju, for allegedly defrauding a contestant to a royal stool of the sum of N420,000.
Operatives of the NSCDC invaded Awofadeju’s shrine at the Ogunda area of Ogbagbaa, on the way to Iwo, from where he was nabbed.
DAILY POST gathered that Awofadeju charged his client N980,000 for some concoction that will enable the prince ascend the throne irrespective of opposition.
Awofadeju was said to have told his client that the sacrifice would involve “two Inaki- igboro, andurban dwelling gorillas.”
It was further learnt that the prince alerted NSCDC operatives when he discovered the intention of the herbalist to include Inaki- igboro which means human being.
Awofadeju, who hails from Ilesa, said he started duping people after he was defrauded when he was selling cocoa.
He said, “I started this herbalist work about eight years ago after I was duped by some people when I was into cocoa trade in Ilesa.”
He said he used his sales representatives, who hawked concoctions, to bring him clients.
Confirming the incident, the Commandant of the NSCDC in Osun State, Mr. Tajudeen Balogun, affirmed that the suspect will soon be charged to court.
