NSCDC arrests five men over alleged abduction of two girls for 22 months

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Jigawa has arrested five suspects who allegedly abducted two girls since January 2012.

Mr Muhammad Gidado, NSCDC Commandant in the state made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Dutse.

Gidado said that the girls were held in a village in Gumel Local Government area of the state.

According to him, one of the girls, who is 15 years old is from Biu Local Government in Borno while the other is 16 years from Keffi in Nassarawa.

“On interrogation, the suspects confessed to have had sexual intercourse with the girls,” Gidado said.

He said the corps had stormed the suspects’ hide-out and rescued the girls after receiving an intelligence report, adding that search was on to apprehend one of the suspects who escaped.

The commandant disclosed that dangerous weapons, hard drugs and several cell phones were recovered from them.

He said that the corps would hand over the suspects to the police for prosecution. (NAN)
