1.Report has it that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, will today, arraign Kingsley Kuku, former Special Adviser on Niger Delta Affairs to President Goodluck Jonathan. He will be arraigned brfore a Federal Capital Territory High Court (Court 26), Wuse Zone 2, Abuja, alongside his two former aides: Lawrence Pepple and Henry Nonso Ugbolue over allegation of criminal conspiracy, false declaration of assets and fraudulent acquisition of property.
2. The Presidential Committee on Defence Equipment Procurement in the Nigerian Armed Forces has now invited three former Chiefs of Army Staff (COAS) – Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazzau, Lt.-Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika and Lt.-Gen. Kenneth Minimah. The panel also summoned over 292 serving and retired top officers who served under the three former Army chiefs.
3. The Benue State government has fired the Registrar and the Bursar of the State University, Makurdi, Dr Timothy Utile and Mr Aondoakaa Kwaghfan over their indictment in the report of a seven-man visitation panel set up by the Governor, Samuel Ortom to review the activities of the institution from 2010 to 2015, under the leadership of former Vice-Chancellor, Professor Charity Angya.
4. Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has disclosed that the state government has video evidence of the alleged atrocities committed by the military across the state in the weekend’s rerun elections, saying that the videos will be released to the public at the appropriate time.
5. The Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has ruled out the possibility of imposing state of emergency on his state and Rivers State, saying any attempt to do that will backfire. Fayose, who was in Abuja to attend the National Economic Council, NEC, retreat, said he had been waiting for President Buhari to take such action.
6. According to report, popular singer and songwriter, Olumuyiwa Osinuga, popularly called Nomoreloss, is dead. The musician died on Monday morning at a hospital in Opebi, Lagos state.
7. President Muhammadu Buhari may have given up his campaign promise of a stable power due to the current economic reality as he has now reduced his promise of 20,000 megawatts of electricity in the next 3 years to 10,000 megawatts. This was disclosed at the National Economic Summit, NEC, held at the villa on Monday.
8. The Nigerian Army on Monday said a Boko Haram leader, named Ameer and 19 others were killed in an onslaught against the terrorist group at Dalore camp in Borno State. The Army Spokesman, Col. Sani Usman further disclosed that troops also rescued 67 captives from the sect.
9. A photographer, Mr. Emmanuel Okolo, has filed a N120m copyright infringement suit against popular musician, Innocent Idiabia, also known as 2face, and his wife, Annie. The photographer is claiming that the couple and one Mr. Anthonio Anifite stole his intellectual property. He alleged that the defendants made use of some photographs he took at the traditional wedding of 2face and his wife, Ani in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State in 2013 without duly attributing the work to him or acknowledging him contrary to an alleged agreement.
10. Yunusa Dahiru, also known as Yellow, who is currently standing trial on a four count charge of abduction of Ese Oruru from Bayelsa State was on Monday granted bail. Justice H.A. Nganjiwa of the Federal High Court in Yenagoa, granted him bail in the sum of N3 with two sureties in like sum. He is to remain in prison custody pending when he meets his bail conditions.
