1. Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose has stated that the ongoing controversies trailing the 2016 Budget of the Federal Government was a clear indication that the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Muhammadu Buhari were never prepared for governance.
Fayose in a statement said if a government could not prepare a common budget, it should just be concluded that those in the government never prepared for governance and such a government may not be able to achieve anything.
2. The Supreme Court has explained why it upheld the election of Nyesom Wike as the validly elected governor of Rivers State.
The apex court also said that the election tribunal denied Wike fair hearing when it was hearing the petition, adding that it was wrong to base its judgment on non-compliance with the use of card readers.
3. A mysterious fire, Friday gutted the office of the Subsidy Re-Investment Programme, SURE-P.
The real cause of the fire outbreak is still unknown but sources said the inferno destroyed several valuable materials belonging to the government.
4. At least 27 members of the Boko Haram insurgents have been killed by the Cameroon soldiers.
The terrorists were killed in a bordering town of Goshi during an attack, which claimed two military officials.
5. Amid cheers and tributes, the remains of the late Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Samuel Odulana Odugade 1, has been committed to mother earth.
The remains of Olubadan, who passed on January 19, 2016 at the age of 101 were yesterday interred in his compound at Igbo Elerin, Ibadan.
The corpse was taken for interment after a funeral service at the Cathedral of Saint Peter, Aremo, Ibadan.
The funeral attracted prominent Yoruba natives from all works of life.
6. The Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase has confirmed that his men were on the trail of Niger Delta Militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo.
He, however warned its men to be responsible in the cause ot their duty.
7. The Code of Conduct Tribunal, (CCT), has fixed March 10, 2016 for the trial of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki.
An Insider said hearing notices have since been communicated to all the parties in the matter.
8. Officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested the Managing Director of Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Ibrahim Abdulsalam.
The operatives also picked the general manager, Procurement, Mr Olumuyiwa Adegorite and general manager, Finance, Nurudeen Segun Agbolade.
No reason was given for their action at the moment.
9. The Naira has hit a record low of 325 to the US dollar on the parallel market as desperate importers scrambled for dollars to meet their obligations overseas.
The Naira closed at 318 against the dollar at the end of the week, after hitting 313.5 and 310 on Tuesday and Monday, respectively.
10. The Nigerian military has released 275 persons, including two Nigeriens and two Cameroonians, who were arrested and detained in connection with Boko Haram insurgency in Borno State.
The Head (Theatre Commander) of the counter-insurgency operation in the North-East, Operation Lafiya Dole, Maj. Gen. Hassan Umaru, disclosed during the handover of the suspects to the Borno State Government that they were picked from different locations in the state for alleged involvement in terrorism and insurgency.
