1. The decomposed body of former Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Prof. Albert Ilemobade, who was earlier suspected to have been kidnapped by unknown gunmen last week, has been recovered from a store in his Ijapo Estate residence in Akure, Ondo State capital. Report says two of his domestic staff have confessed to killing the former VC and the suspects would be paraded on Monday (Today)
2. After 34 days in the hands of dear devil Kidnappers, Kogi State High Court Judge, Justice Samuel Obayomi has been released by his abductors. Report says Justice Obayomi who was kidnapped last month was released at about 11. 30 pm on saturday.
3. The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has requested Nigerians to pray fervently for the success of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration and leaders at all levels of government. Dogara believes that the problems confronting Nigerian leaders were beyond the physical, hence they need spiritual intervention.
4. The All Progressives Congress has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to pay particular attention to the Federal Ministry of Education in order to recover the nation’s looted funds. The party said it was imperative President Buhari investigates the administration of the former Supervisory Minister of Education, Chief Nyesom Wike.
5. A former interim National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Bisi Akande, has advised President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC governors to proffer a permanent solution to the ongoing squabble in the party as it’s capable of working against the party in 2019.
6. The National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission, working under the directive of the presidency has asked Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Otuoke, Bayelsa State, Prof. Mobolaji Aluko, to return to the government’s coffer overpayment of salaries running into millions of naira. Also to be refunded was the sum of N130, 692.71 per month in excess of his due salary.
7. The National Association of Seadogs has described the development in the National Assembly as a show of shame which must be stopped in order to commence effective legislation. National President of the association, Mr. Ifeanyi Onochie, condemned the lawmakers’ actions in a statement.
8. Report says unknown gunmen have shot dead a Deputy Superintendent of Police, Tamuno Jacob Igbomie, who was Principal Security Officer to Patience Jonathan. His body was reportedly found in his Honda Accord car last Friday along the Airport Road, Abuja.
9. The Nigeria Labour Congress on Sunday warned President Muhammadu Buhari against fuel subsidy removal and further devaluation of the nation’s currency , saying what Nigerians want is good governance and better economy. It said such move would be resisted by the union.
10. An Enugu based pastor of the World Liberation Assembly, Nsukka, Rev. Jude Uchechukwu, on Sunday took on the United States of America’s Supreme Court for legalizing same-sex marriage, saying that the action was a sign of end time. He argued that the institution of marriage was man to woman and not woman to woman or man to man as it’s the case under same-sex-marraiage.
