1. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has moved against the former Chairman of Ikeja Hotels Plc, Mr. Goodie Ibru, for allegedly defrauding the hotel to the tune of N1bn. The Commission has consequently filed 11 count of fraud against the former Chairman.
2. President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered that going forward, all audit queries must be answered within 24 hours. The President has also asked the Auditor General of the Federation to within the next 30 days resolve all outstanding audit queries.
3. The Nigerian Army has announced that it has captured alive one Boko Haram Terrorists Commander and is presently undergoing investigation. The Army achieved the feat while clearing terrorists’ camp in Fadan, Shuwarin, Wulari, Ngoro Dauye, Jidori, Alikashiri, Kalzamari-Shuwa and Kalzamari-Kanuri among others. During the operation, about 178 people who were held hostage were equally rescued.
4. Controversial report says Qatar has banned Nigerian travellers who do not have valid polio vaccination certificate from entering the country. The aim, according to the report is to guide against the spread of the disease in the country.
5. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State, yesterday, said that Lai Mohammad’s recent interview with the AIT has confirmed that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) controls the DSS in both Rivers and Akwa-Ibom states. Chairman of the party in the state, Obong Paul Ekpo, raised the allegation with special reference to the Lai’s interview where he said the DSS were monitoring the case in both states.
6. Former Nigerian leader, Olusegun Obasanjo has said that it is wrong to refer to an individual as leader of the Yoruba. Obasanjo stated this in his book, titled, “My Watch: Political and Public Affairs.”
7. A middle aged woman, Mrs. Florence Aladenoye while visiting a friend during the weekend was bitten to death by a dog in Idanre local government area of Ondo State. The friend’s security dogs reportedly attacked her and she died after been rushed to the hospital.
8. Report says the offices of the INEC at Mgboko, headquarters of Obingwa Local Council of Abia State were Sunday set ablaze by some unknown assailants. The incident reportedly happened around 11am.
9. At least, seven persons were reportedly killed on Sunday after suspected Boko Haram terrorists attacked Malari village in Konduga Local Government Area (LGA) of Borno State.
10. Nigeria’s Dream Team VI have qualified for the African U-23 Championship in Senegal, after holding Congo to a goalless draw in Pointe Noire. The qualification follows their 2:1 victory in the first game played in Nigeria.
