1. Following the arrest of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu by the DSS, the Indigenous People of Biafra Worldwide, owners of Radio Biafra, have written an open letter to world leaders, warning that they will take up arm against the Nigerian government if their leader is not released immediately.
2. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has alleged that the EFCC’s probe of former Akwa Ibom State Governor, Godswill Akpabio, was politically motivated and a sign that President Buhari’s anti-corruption war was selective. The Party said while Akpabio is continuously being harassed, former Governors, Rotimi Amaechi and Fashola were given new roles in government.
3. A female suicide bomber was on Sunday killed by the Nigerian soldiers outside a military base in Borno on Sunday, as she attempted to detonate some explosives concealed in her handbag. The bomber had targeted the Maimalari army barracks- the main military base in Maiduguri before she was shot dead.
4. The Federal Government has disclosed on Sunday that it would sanction any distribution company that engages in installation of substandard electricity equipment in its operations. This was disclosed by Mr Peter Ewesor, the Chairman of the Federal Government Investigative Panel on the death of Miss Oluchi Anekwe, a 300-level student of the University of Lagos, said this in Lagos.
5. Report has claimed that the United States has commenced drone operation within the Sambisa forest in search of the Chibok girls and others still being held captive in the dreaded zone. Report has claimed that many Boko Haram insurgents have already been sighted in the forest.
6. About 385 officers of the DSS have been commissioned to tackle insecurity nationwide. The 385 officers were those that successfully went through 10 months rigorous professional, academic and physical training since last year.
7. The home-based Super Eagles, will on Thursday depart for Burkina Faso ahead of the return leg of their 2016 CHAN qualifying fixture. 18 players will be selected from the 23 currently in camp for the encounter.
8. Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima has raised the hope of those displaced by Boko Haram insurgents as he disclosed during the weekend that with the ongoing rehabilitation of areas affected by insurgency, the over two million displaced persons in the northeast could return to their respective towns and villages on or before May 29, 2016.
9. Following the medical test carried out on the student who died of suspected Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in Calabar, the Federal Ministry of Health has said that the deceased proved negative to all pathogenic viruses known to man. This was cleared in a statement by Mr Linus Awute, Permanent Secretary in charge of the ministry in Abuja on Tuesday.
10. Former Minister of Education and the pioneer Chairman of Ondo State Labour Party, Dr. Olaiya Oni is dead. Oni died on Sunday at the age of 74. He died at an undisclosed private hospital in Akure, the Ondo state capital.
