Already, the Riverine security team has handed over the suspect to the Nigeria Police Force in Igbokoda, headquarters of Ilaje local government for further prosecution shortly after it concluded its own part of the investigation.

Addressing reporters at Igbokoda, Navy captain livingstone clinton lzu said the alleged person was apprehended at the Bradama Centre for Skill and Acquisition in Agadagba area of Ese-Odo local government in a “Neatly turned rate Badge”.

According to lzu, the suspect was also caught with a fake Nigerian Navy Identity Card (NN ID-Card).

He added that subsequent interrogation uncovered that the suspect got the ID card in a business Centre at Warri-Sapele Road, Delta State.

lzu said “the alleged person was able to be arrested when he stormed the Nigerian Army Outpost at Bradam Centre for Skill and Acquisition in Agadagba in NN-blue rig with very visible leading seaman rate badge and introduced himself to the soldiers as a rating (i.e a naval officer) in Nigerian Navy that is observing the amnesty program.

“He solicited that the Guard Commander of the Soldiers lends him N2000 for his transportation fees, which the guard commander obliged. Then a sergeant who suspected a foul play then called the attention of LWEA TUMBA EL that why would a Nigerian Navy allow her personnel to be involved in amnesty program.

“Following this, Mr. John was taken to the intelligence operative Unit where he was interrogated and the suspect claimed to be a Naval Personnel serving at the Nigerian Navy Engineering in Sapele, Delta State.

“However, the suspect later confessed that he got his NN ID-Card at a business Centre in Warri Sapele road through a friend simply identified as Destiny who is a Navy personnel of the Special Boat Service Branch and that his friend rating is 11 AK and presently serving at NNS Delta.

“The alleged man involved also confessed that he is a commercial motor bike rider and it was the process of his business that he encountered his Navy Friend who lost his service Identity Card.

He said he was the one who took his friend on a bike to a business centre at Warri Sapele road where he observed the NN ID Card. He later went on his own to the same business centre to produce the same ID Card.

“On why he embarked on such motive to produce the ID Card, the suspect said he was using the NN-ID Card to escape from Police arrest when riding his commercial motor bike at night since there is a law banning riding of motor bike at Night in the State.

“The suspect also alleged that he is a paramilitary officer of Seascout organization and that the uniform he was wearing was sowed for members of the group”

lzu confirmed that Regulating Officer of NNS Delta State has been contacted to ascertain the alleged officer involved and also the existence of Seascout organization in the State.
