A Nigerian named Dominic Adesanya, who lives in Maryland in the United States, has been arrested for jumping the fence of the country’s White House.
Police reports say the 23-year old Adesanya climbed the fence on the North Lawn of the building around 7.15 pm yesterday, and got about 20 yards past the fence before he was arrested by the Secret Service and dogs.
Though currently in police custody, reports has it that he is being treated in a hospital for injuries he sustained during the encounter as he was attacked by K.9 dogs. Some of the dogs also had to undergo treatment following kicks they received from Adesanya.
The White House was put on a lock-down for about two hours after Adesanya jumped the fence. President Obama was said to be in the White House at the time the incident occurred. Police believes Adesanya was not armed but still says he is in big trouble.
According to his Facebook profile, the Nigerian attended Stevenson University for business administration and management and Hartford Community College for an associate of science, along with a bit of business administration and management.
His father, who confirmed the story in a chat with ABC 2, said Adesanya had been arrested at the White House before adding that the family had tried to get him help.
Adesanya’s attempted break-in into the official residence of the United States’ president is coming weeks after a similar incident happened. This necessitated the resignation of the director of Secret Service, Julia Pierson on the first of this month. In September, a 42-year old man identified as Omar Gonzalez had jumped the fence and got in the East room before he was arrested.
