A number of people who live in Abaji Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory have briefed our correspondents on how the suspected Boko Haram member, Kabiru Umar, aka Kabiru Sokoto, was rescued from the Police.
Their explanation presented a total contrast of the earlier story on how the kingpin was rescued. They had explained to reporters through an interpreter in Angwar Tsohuwar Kasuwa in Abuja where the incident occurred, that the militant youth who rescued Kabiru from the police numbered in the hundreds, but were not armed, and as such no fire was shot before he was rescued.
Demanding that their identity should not be exposed, they said that the invading group set the suspect, Kabiru Umar free without a single shot from the police until he had been taken away, as if to give the impression that there had been a fight. In the process of what they termed a fake and organised attempt to fight back , the police killed one person in the area and got several other people arrested as part of the invaded militant youth.
